Months 10 and 11

Now that Sailor is a whooping 5 days away from her 1ST Birthday, and I am in full-blown party mode, I realized I'm like 2 months behind on my monthly updates!

I think after her 12 Month post, I'll transition to maybe only posting updates every 3 months or so, but in the meanwhile, I'd like to carve out some time to talk about topics like: Losing the baby weight, Exclusively Pumping, Postpartum-Anxiety, as well as fun things like: fashion for mommy and baby, and some of my favorite baby essentials! So, we'll see how that goes over the next few months. (Don't hold your breath.)

Anyway! Here are the last 2 months in pictures!

10 months!

As you can see, monthly photo shoots no longer go as planned. We are VERY lucky to get just a couple "good" pictures. But she sure is funny!

Here is she eating her absolute favorite food, avocado. She will eat an entire one for dinner!

Just like her Momma during the height of Myspace a few years ago, Sailor loves a good "selfie."

Constantly trying to break out of baby jail...by any means necessary!
A montage dedicated to her first cheese puff!

Other notables about this month:

Baby LOVES her some Family Feud! (And yes, thanks to spell check JUST NOW, I realized I misspelled it on the chalkboard...oops!) We watch it every afternoon, and I can't quite figure out if it's Steve Harvey's voice, or the sound the game board makes, but either way, she is GLUED to the screen! We even have to turn it off if she needs to eat or take a bottle!

She loves most table foods, and hasn't been allergic to anything yet...knock on wood!

She's a true NOLA girl who loves to bust a move when music comes on. (Her signature move is a little bounce with one hand stretched out, and the other holding onto something for dear life....as seen in Instagram videos.)

And sleep truly went to the shitter this month...I don't know if it was more teeth cutting....or the fact that we finally threw out her beloved swing...(never again!) but it has been quite the ordeal. But we're working on it...her crib can currently be found in our room....(WOMP WOMP!)

Maybe I'll write an entire blog about what NOT to do if you're trying to get your baby to sleep through the night/in their own crib...because I feel like I did everything wrong! But it is slowly but surely getting better...more on that next time!

 11 Months!

I'll call this, "The Progression of an Unsuccessful Photo Shit...I mean SHOOT"...(Yes, that was a real typo I decided to keep...I swear!)

Here is where we had the BRILLIANT idea that we would just capture the moment that she crawls past the chalkboard...that went well....

Words can't express how glad I am that I wrote "climb" for this month! Perfection.
 Over it...
 Trouble...
I have NO IDEA why, but for some reason, she kept making this open-mouthed face over and over and over again! She's a nut!

So excited for her FIRST MARDI GRAS parade ever!

The stuffed "Jester Bear" she got from said parade, and fell in love with! Don't worry, it was bathed in healthy dose of Lysol.
Other mentionables about my nearly 1 year old girl...

If you ever wonder what she may be doing at 3 am on any given night, rest assured it's NOT sleeping, more often than not, she literally trying to climb UP THE WALL from her crib! Let's all take a moment and pray that the novelty of this wears off soon!

Also, it should be noted that Sailor wants to do everything on her own time...not yours.

If you would like her to:Wave, hug, kiss, say Mama, Dada, Bye Bye, sign "More" or "Milk," or show you that she's one year old with her pointer finger, don't waste your time getting out the camera, Miss Independent does what she wants, which means she'll do it all, precisely, 3 hours later....when you've put up the camera, and the video camera, and hung up the phone, and ended the SKYPE sesh, and left the party.

 So theres that.

But  other than that, she's pretty much the best thing that ever happened to us, and I CAN'T BELIEVE she's nearly a year old!

Here's to hoping I'm not the blubbering idiot "ugly crying" in the corner of the party! Although,  I feel like it only gets worse if I hold it in...so maybe I'll just LET IT FLY!

Until next time my friends!

9 months and Sailor's First Christmas!

So, now that she's almost 11 months, meaning my 10 month post is on the horizon, (or should be...) what better way to spend this fine SNEAUX DAY than by giving an update! (Yes, New Orleans MAY get to see some snow today! Consequently, everyone has gone bonkers! Schools are closed and shelves are bare, so I hope I get some cute pictures of Sailor in the snow after all of this commotion!)

Backtracking just a little, (aren't I always?) in November our lovely friend, Leslie Pendleton, took some great family photos of us to kick off the holidays! Here are some of my faves!

Month 9 was a little bit crazy in terms of milestones, Sailor officially started crawling with her belly off of the floor, as well as pulling up in her crib, not to mention cutting two more teeth (a total of 6 at this point), and having her first fever :-( (we made it pretty far on that one, I know, and as sad as it was, I was thankful that so much time had passed! I thought it might have been her teeth, but the Doc mentioned that she usually doesn't attribute fevers to teething if it was over 100. It was like 101, so the verdict is out on that one!)

Her nine month pics took place just days after the fever so I think that explains the lack of smiles :-(

We did manage to get a little goofiness to come out...
 Case and point...

She also has officially gotten over pureed food, so here she is sampling toast (with squash smeared all over it...sneaky Mommy)
And Daddy's homemade banana bread (A clear winner!)

And then there was Christmas!!!
Naturally, we spent the entire month dressing in themed outfits, because they are my absolute FAVE!

Or in some cases, just Santa hats...(That may or may not have a picture of Justin Bieber hiding on the back of them...don't ask!)

Our Arkansas family came to town the week before to celebrate with us! (Yes, we celebrate Christmas in just a diaper sometimes, Hey! we live in southeast Louisiana! And Sailor also woke up from her nap with another little fever :-(

And just like that...OVER IT!
Christmas Eve!
 True feelings come out...

She ended up pretty freaked out by this adorable rocking horse my Mom gave her...
 Our little skeptic...

Her very own cell phone! (That does not deter her AT ALL from actual cell phones...FAIL!) At least she loves it...(When not around real cell phones...) Thanks MiMi!!

 We Love MiMi!
A very sleepy Sailor opening her Christmas Eve present, "The Night Before Christmas."

Which she then proceeded to attempt to rip apart/eat as I tried my darnedest to have a monumental family moment of us reading it to her on the eve of her first Christmas...sigh...maybe next year!
Seriously, we had so much fun playing Santa! No one told me how fun it is! Perhaps because it won't be so fun once you're building toys (or desks...sorry Mom!) at 2 am, but this year, it was my favorite!
Our Santa Baby on Christmas Day!

And later with her BFF, Ellie! (Getting this photo, was like herding cats! Major props to twin-mommies who do this often!)
And finally, a little New Years kiss with my loves! 2013 was amazing! Bring it, 2014!

Ps. You know that saying, "Never wake a sleeping baby?" You should definitely wake a sleeping baby when she spends most of New Years afternoon/evening sleeping. Otherwise, although you may get an adorable picture kissing your cute- as -can - be baby, she will be ready to party, while you on the other hand, have been struggling to stay awake since 9 pm!

Next up, birthday party-planning :-( :-( :-(!
